April Favorites Makeup & Skincare Over 50

Today it’s April favorites, and oh my gosh, I have so many things to talk about! Who knew there were so many great makeup and skincare products for us over 50 gals with mature skin.

Buckle up because there’s a TON of good suggestions coming at you – makeup items to skincare products, one lifestyle item, and one piece of clothing that I can’t stop wearing.

I’m still working through my never-ending makeup shopping spree. I’ve found so many good things. The first one is Revlon Colorstay Foundation, have you tried this? 

This is not a new foundation; it has been around for quite some time, and it’s an absolute holy grail for so many people. I think it comes in a few different formulas I picked it up in the normal to dry formula. My skin is more normal, but I thought the dry part might make it a little bit more hydrating for mature skin. 

One thing that I notice when I use this foundation is that it looks so skin-like. You know how you can put some foundations on it, and they look like they’re just sitting on top of the skin? This doesn’t do that, it just sinks right into the skin. It’s a really lovely foundation, and it’s at a drugstore price. I mean, what more can you ask for from a foundation!

I need to talk about the Maybelline Sky High Mascara. I may have talked about this in last month’s favorites, but it’s just that good. The Maybelline Sky High Mascara has just blown me away. It goes on easily, and it lengthens my lashes at a drugstore price. It always looks phenomenal, and it’s not a fight to take off at night, which I really appreciate.

One of the things I’ve been adding recently to this mascara is the Loreal Voluminous Base Mascara Primer. I find that when I use the primer first and then the Maybelline Sky High Mascara, my eyelashes are not only super long, but they’re much thicker and more voluminous. Such a perfect combination for long fluttery lashes.

Let’s talk about sunscreen; it’s getting to be that time of the year. Of course, we need to be wearing sunscreen all year long, but now that we’re into the spring and summer months, it becomes doubly important. I am outdoors 3 to 4 days a week, sometimes even more and I don’t wear a full face of makeup when I’m hiking or kayaking. The sunscreen that I use regularly is Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50. 

This is a tinted sunscreen with a terrific formula that doesn’t get dry as the day goes on. Many sunscreens I found particularly that are a little thicker or a little heavier feel dry during the day and leaves my skin feeling like the Sahara desert within a couple of hours. This doesn’t do that; it keeps my face moist, and it gives a little bit of coverage which is always nice. So on days when I’m wearing sunscreen with no makeup, the Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 is just perfect!  

I’ve had a few of you ask me what I do to keep my teeth white. I researched many teeth whitening systems and chose the one I thought had the technology that I was looking for at an affordable price. 

This is from a company called, and I’ve been using it ever since. I’ve been using this system for about a year and a half and have no desire to find a new one because this one works so well and it’s so effortless to use. You simply brush the gel onto your teeth, stick the unit into your mouth, and then plug it into your computer. It also has a little attachment where you can plug it into your phone as well. Everything on this system works so well. I don’t like anything complicated to use or fussy. 

If you’re looking for a very affordable and effective teeth whitening system, I can tell you that I still love the after many months down the road. 

These are the Joggers that I can’t stop wearing. These are different from regular yoga pants because they’re gathered around the ankle, they’re a little bit looser through the thigh area, and have pockets.

These have become my absolute staple pants, and I’ve ordered three pairs so far. I wear these pants when I’m just going to be bopping around town, and I also wear them when I’m going hiking. They’re made of really stretchy fabric, so if I’m hiking up hills or mountains, they’re super comfortable, and they wash up so easily. 

The banded bottoms are such a cute look to me. I like to pair these up with my white sneakers or some flat boots to wear out meeting friends. They’re super affordable, and they come in so many different colors, so I’ll probably end up buying a few more because I wear them so often. I’m absolutely loving these versatile Jogger pants; they’ve become a huge part of my wardrobe.
