One of the things that we need to embrace, and unfortunately, it’s not very good news. After we turn 20, we start losing 1% of our collagen production every year.

Now 1% per year doesn’t sound like very much, but to put it in perspective. At 64 years old, my skin generated 44% less collagen than when I was 20. So you might be wondering what we can do to counteract that.

That’s where we come into the basics of understanding anti-aging skincare. There are two elements that we want to focus on, that’s collagen and elastin.

The lack of collagen and elastin gives our face that a little less than plump and fresh look. So over the years, we can start to get sagging, wrinkling, and a face that doesn’t look quite as bright and fresh as it did in our youth.

So anything we can do to promote collagen and elastin in our skincare is going to be beneficial. The good news is that there are some effective, affordable things we can do at home to really promote collagen and elastin production in our skin.

Radiofrequency is one of them. It’s been around for quite a while, and it’s a very popular treatment in med spas and dermatologist offices.

Does radiofrequency work?

Radiofrequency works to tighten up the skin in a couple of ways. First, it encourages long-term collagen production and has a short-term effect of contracting your collagen, giving immediate bounciness to the face.

There are lots of scientific studies on collagen production as a result of radiofrequency. The scientific literature on radio frequency it’s very very cautious.

For instance, one study shows a 96% positive result from radiofrequency but only a 44% statistical improvement. This has a lot to do with how do you qualify for tighter, firmer skin.

Does Radiofrequency Boost Collagen and Erase Wrinkles?

The overall studies have shown that radiofrequency increases collagen production and effectively stimulates collagen synthesis.

There is additional information that regular treatments do help the process, which makes sense. When you exercise once, you get some benefits. When you exercise regularly, you get a lot more benefits.

Now how does radiofrequency work? It goes in and heats the skin, thus degrading the existing collagen, signaling your body to come in and make new collagen. That’s what we want for our body to step up that collagen production.

I know it can sound kind of stressful that you’re damaging your collagen; however, that’s what’s going to generate collagen production and create tighter, firmer skin.

Keep in mind when we’re talking about collagen and elastin production. It’s not something that happens overnight. It takes time for your body to go in every generate that additional collagen and elastin. It could take weeks and months or even longer.

I know many people use a device for 4 to 6 weeks, do not see the results they’re hoping for, and think it doesn’t work. Unfortunately, that’s not how collagen and elastin production works.

It’s a long game. It takes consistency and patience to see the results. But, the bottom line is that radiofrequency has proven to lift and tighten skin.

Radiofrequency is very popular in Med Spas and Dermatology offices.
Unfortunately, it comes with a significant price tag. I did some local research and found that the treatments run anywhere from $1,000 up to $4,000, and it’s best if you do multiple treatments. Sometimes they want you to come in every week for several weeks that can get pretty spendy.

The good news for us is that at-home devices are now out on the market that use the same technology used in the doctor’s office. However, they’re not going to be as strong as the ones available in the doctor’s office, but they’re going to be more affordable devices.

Let me share with you a bit of my experience testing and trying in-home radiofrequency devices. It’s been a bumpy road. I started testing devices months and months ago and tested a few of them. My experience is that some of the devices I tried felt like the device just was not quite there yet.

After much testing and trying radiofrequency devices, I finally found one that works beautifully for me. It is the Nebulyft radiofrequency device

I’ve been using this device almost every morning. I’ve only missed a day or two. I love that I’m not only seeing long-term collagen and elastin increase, but I also see immediate plumpness to my skin since I’ve been utilizing radiofrequency for wrinkles and fine lines.

There are several reasons why I feel this device is superior to the other devices I tested. First of all, they did an excellent job of designing this device: it’s very ergonomic. It fits nicely in hand. It also works well. I don’t like any fussy devices or cause me any trouble.

By the time they bring a device to market, I want to make sure it’s working well, and my experience will be easy and smooth. This device definitely fits the bill.

How often should radiofrequency be done?

I have been using my Nebulyft at Home Radio Frequency with great results.

I went to my daughter’s over at the coast, and I didn’t take any of my devices with me. But, I noticed when I came home after four days. I could tell that my skin did not have that same bounciness when I use it daily.
