Face Lifting Makeup Techniques
There’s so many great techniques for contouring mature, over 50 skin. I’m sharing all the tips and tricks you will need to create a more youthful, face lifting makeup look.
Whenever I think about contouring my face, I think about the line contents may have shifted during the flight. I feel like that’s what’s happened to my face.
I have found how I used to apply my face products no longer works for my more mature skin. This is because the contours of my face are in a different place than they used to be.

Face Lifting Makeup Tips for Women Over 50
The first step is to find the center of your iris when you’re looking straight forward. We don’t want to put any product on the inside of where that line is. All products will go on the outside or what I call the upstairs area of the face.

So, you can see right where my iris is when I’m looking straight forward.
I want to keep all the products on this side of that line.
Which contour to use over 50?
The first product you want to apply is the contour/bronzer. I have three that I work with regularly that I would really recommend if you don’t have one that you love.

The first is the True Match Loreal Lumi Bronze It. This one of my absolute favorite bronzers. It has such a beautiful warm color to it. In addition, it’s is at a great drugstore price and has a generous pan size.
This bronzer is so easy to put on, and it contours beautifully while giving my face just a little bit of warmth that I need.

My absolute favorite bronzing and contouring product is the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand. I’m so impressed with the formula of this bronzer. It layers beautifully and doesn’t lift up your foundation.
This bronzer lasts all day and creates a stunning glow. However, this is a more expensive product.

A product I have found to be very similar is the Catrice Triangle Contour Stick. This product is really terrific, and it’s at a drugstore price.
It has an interesting triangle shape here. The texture is so creamy, and it blends out like a dream.
Face Lifting Contouring for Over 50
- Apply the contour a little bit higher than the hollow of the cheek. I take my product and feel where that hollow of my cheek is and place the product above. That is going to give that area more of a lifted look.
- Then, I run the contour product right underneath my hairline and down along my chin. Remember, Darkness helps an area to recede. Lightness helps an area to come forward.
- Then using a stipple brush or a blending brush, start to blend upwards. Blend the contour color into the hairline. This creates a nice blend down my forehead.
- Finally, I blend it above and below my jawline to ensure there isn’t any harsh lines.
Face Lifting Blush Hack Over 50
When I was younger, and this was probably true for almost all of us. We were taught to put our blush on the apples of our cheeks, which works well when you have beautiful pronounced apples on your cheeks. Unfortunately, as I’ve gotten older, this technique doesn’t work as well.
The tip for applying blush for a more lifted look is to apply it on the upstairs area of the cheeks into the hairline and temple area. Applying it up higher on our cheeks helps it stay in place when you’re smiling or not smiling.

This Milani Cheek Kiss Cream Blush in I Cherryish You is so beautiful on the skin. Although this is a cream blush, the formula almost feels a little oily, but it blends in beautifully to the skin.
These blushes are so pigmented they will last you forever. This formula blends in so beautifully and looks so natural on the skin. Plus, it comes in so many different shades.
Applying Highlighter Over 50
Highlighters can not only give us a healthy, radiant glow, but they can also give our face a more lifted, youthful look.
Out of all the highlighters I have used, there are a few that I reach for again and again. These are a part of my holy grail that I can always count on to give me a brighter look that makes my cheeks pop and look fuller.
I place the highlighter on top of my cheek area right over the blush. I don’t want to get it into the eye area because I don’t want to accentuate crow feet and wrinkles around my eyes. However, I do want to draw attention to a more lifted cheek look with a highlighter.
Applying a highlighter to the front of your cheeks, the tip of your nose, and above your lip supplies a lovely, youthful glow.

The Revlon Skin Lights Highlight – Daybreak Glimmer has just the prettiest color. The formula is just so creamy that it blends in like a dream, so it’s perfect for more mature skin.

The Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter is a classic product. It is absolutely beautiful on the skin. It is a cream based highlighter which I think is perfect for more mature skin as it gives a beautiful glow but doesn’t settle in lines or wrinkles.

One of my very favorite products to highlight my skin is Loreal Lumi Glotion. This product is just so good, and it comes in at an affordable drugstore price. I often use this underneath my foundation in the areas where I want to add a little more glow. It does a beautiful job illuminating my foundation underneath and giving that lit from within look to my complexion.
The Last Tip for Face Lifting Makeup
Blend, blend, blend! I blend my products as I go along but also blend them when I’m finished with my makeup look. I have found that blending for my more mature skin is one of the most crucial things in helping my makeup look seamless.
