Today I’m sharing my best five tips and a step-by-step plan to get brighter, fresher skin for us over 50 gals. It’s super affordable and should be effective in eight weeks or less!
As some of you might know, I started my anti-aging skincare routine a little more than a year and a half ago. This was after a lifetime of ignoring my skin and coming home from two years of full-time travel, looking in the mirror, and being horrified about how my skin looked.
I launched on my anti-aging skincare journey, but I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to impact my skin. Over the past year and a half, I found out that it’s absolutely doable, affordable, and all things you can do at home.
Join me to find out how to get brighter, fresher skin in eight weeks or less!
If you were to ask your dermatologist what side you sleep on, she’d be able to figure it out. When we sleep on our side, we squish our face in, and the side that we favor ends up having deeper nasolabial folds and marionette lines. In addition to just being more wrinkled than the side, we don’t sleep on.
One of the best things I have done to counteract those wrinkles is sleep on my Sleep n Glow Pillow. It is specifically designed to keep those wrinkles away; it has little cubbies created on either side that your face can lay in without it being smashed up. Another thing I love about the Sleep n Glow Pillow is the height of the pillow holds my head at just the right angle, and it feels so relaxing and comfortable.
Sleep n Glow recently launched a new exciting pillow that helps you learn to sleep on your back, which I think is just brilliant. The pillow is designed with bolsters on each side, so your head falls right in the middle. It has the same distance as the classic, so your head lays at a lovely angle, and you don’t feel like your head is too far back or too far forward. Sleep n Glow Pillows are really well designed, ergonomic, and they’re so comfortable.
When I started on my anti-aging skincare journey, I didn’t realize how vital exfoliation was for really fresh, bright skin. As we get older, not only does the elasticity and collagen in our skin reduce, but the turnover of our cells also slows down.
If you’re just launching on your skincare journey, I would suggest that you add exfoliation to your weekly routine. It will make all the difference in the brightness and the freshness of your skin. Exfoliating your skin regularly will help get off these old dead skin cells and make way for the new fresh skin cells to give you that bright, fresh look on your skin.
My favorite exfoliation is The Ordinary AHA BHA Peeling Solution; it is a fabulous and affordable product. A bottle will last me 6 to 8 months, so it is really cost-effective. I use the peel one night a week, and then that night for my skincare, I don’t use anything except a very gentle moisturizer to give my skin time to get off all those dead skin cells and bring up the brighter, fresher skin.
The Ordinary AHA BHA Peeling Solution will not be the right peel for you if you have sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin a few products I recommend are the Paula’s Choice 2% Leave On Solution that is a BHA that will be a little bit gentler for your skin.
Another choice, if you have sensitive skin, is the Pixi Toner. You could use it several times a week to bring out your skin’s brightness.
For me, I think the number one ingredient that has made such a difference in the brightness of my skin over the last year and a half has been vitamin C. It is probably one of the most effective ingredients for brightening your skin.
The Maelove The Glowmaker is excellent. It is also a very affordable vitamin C serum, their particular formula comes with Ferulic Acid, which really amps up the effectiveness of the vitamin C in the formula.
When I use a highlighter, I find it helps my skin look brighter, fresher and makes my cheeks pop and look fuller. One of my very favorite products to highlight my skin is Loreal Lumi Glotion. I absolutely love this product, and it comes in at an affordable drugstore price. I often use this underneath my foundation in the areas where I want to add a little more glow. It does a beautiful job at illuminating my foundation underneath and giving that lit from within look to my complexion.
If you want to start with a highlighter and want to do it an affordable way, I can say that the Loreal Lumi Glotion is a great place to start!
