5 Fashion Classics Over 50

Today I’ll be sharing five classic wardrobe staples that I’m going to be including in my cart for the upcoming spring and summer months.

I have a confession to make; I may have spent a little too much time in my jammies and sweats over the past year. I realized I was in a wardrobe rut when it dawned on me that I have been in the same pair of jeans and sweater when I’ve had to leave the house for the past week. It’s time for me to change things up and make a little more of an effort in my wardrobe.

I will be doing a closet cleanout and only keeping those pieces I truly love. These five pieces are classics and staples in my style; I lean more towards classic with a little bit of twist.

Join me to see which pieces I’m keeping to help me create a beautiful wardrobe for the upcoming spring and summer months!

Button Back White Blouse

The first classic wardrobe staple I’m going to be adding is a classic white blouse. The classic white blouse comes in so many different styles these days, which I find truly exciting.

You can get the classic cut which has been around for decades, a loose oversize style, or a polished white blouse. For me, a beautiful white blouse, particularly if it has some unique details, is just a beautiful coordinating piece in any wardrobe.

Also, it is so very versatile. It can be paired with jeans, a more dressy skirt, layered over a dress, or underneath a more elegant jacket. It can look fabulous with statement accessories like a red belt or purse or a distinctive, unique necklace.

There is nothing as classic or elegant as a beautiful white blouse!

The next piece I’ll be adding to my wardrobe is a great pair of jeans or two!

I’m so thrilled with the new look in jeans for this spring and summer season; that they’re not skinny jeans! They’re more straight-legged and looser. And I, for one, am never going to miss having to paint on a pair of jeans again.

Jeans have become such a fashion staple. They can wear anywhere from very comfy cozy with sneakers to rolled up and paired with a stylish pair of heels. A great pair of jeans can take you from a casual everyday running errands to out to dinner wearing a stylish jacket and jewelry. Jeans look terrific paired with that classic white blouse with every sweater in your wardrobe, with jackets from casual to dressy.

I prefer wearing more comfortable jeans, and I’m looking forward to adding a few new pairs to my wardrobe.

Steve Madden Black Button Front Dress

The next piece I’ll be adding to my wardrobe is something that I’ve always loved including in my staple wardrobe, that is a black dress.

There’s just something about a black dress that is just so elegant and versatile you can dress up or dress it down. The things that I look for in a black dress is comfortable to wear; it’s not too formfitting, is long enough but not too long, and washes up nicely.

I love to create a casual look with a black dress with a pair of sneakers and a jean jacket, all the way to dressing it up with the more Chanel look Jacket and jewelry. A black dress looks great with sneakers, heels, sandals, flats, and boots. Pairing a black dress with a sweater or jacket can change the look and add mileage to your wardrobe. Adding statement jewelry and accessories can really spice it up.

For me, when it comes to a black dress, comfort is key, and versatility being able to dress it up or down makes it a valuable piece in my wardrobe.

Madewell Denim Jacket

The next step is a jean jacket, and just like jeans themselves, jean jackets have become quite a wardrobe staple. I love the look of a classic jean jacket, and there are so many beautiful styles available, and they’re so affordable as well.

A jean jacket’s versatility, I have seen them worn everything from super casual craft fair event to out to dinner at a nice restaurant. When you style them correctly, a jean jacket can go anywhere from super casual to super dressy.

It can be paired with slacks and dresses, layered over a white shirt that I think is such a beautiful classic look. They work so well with animal print that never seems to go out of style. Also, using interesting statement jewelry can create a really unique look.

A jean jacket is a wonderfully versatile and terrific element in any wardrobe.

Twill Ankle Pants

The last classic wardrobe piece that I will be adding to my cart is a pair of classic black pants. I love a comfortable well-cut pair of pants, and I like my black pants to hit right at the ankle so I can style them several ways. I love to wear my black pants not only with my sneakers but with my boots and high heels, so the versatility of having ankle-length black pants is essential.

With black pants, you can dress them up or dress them down; pair them with that white blouse and jean jacket layered over it, add some unique statement jewelry, and you have a fabulous look that can go so many places.

I’m excited to add a great pair of versatile black pants to my classic wardrobe for the spring and summer months!
