5 Spring Makeup Favorites Over 50
I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for spring. I’m looking for joy, happiness, and fun, bright colors!
It seems like things have been a little bit subdued for a while, and I’m looking forward to a much happier, brighter, and lighter season.
Today I’ll be sharing what I’m going to be adding to the upcoming spring season.
Let’s hop right into my picks for spring!
Let’s get the thing that we all need to do out of the way first, and that is sunscreen. We need to be wearing sunscreen all year long, but spring is here, and it’s a little bit sunnier; it becomes more important than ever.
I have tried a boatload of sunscreens, and if I could only pick one, it would be the one from DRMTLGY. It comes in two different formulas, a tinted formula, and regular formula. A lot of people love the tinted formula; between the two, it’s not my favorite. I prefer the untinted formula. This is a combination of a chemical and physical sunscreen. What I like about it is that it plays so well under makeup. This is the sunscreen that I use when I’m going to be doing a full face of makeup for the day, it’s very light, and it sinks in really nicely.
What makes it stand out from the rest is that it doesn’t make my skin feel drier throughout the day. It’s not like some of those sunscreens where you put it on, and your skin feels moisturized, but then an hour later, your skin feels dry like the Sahara desert. They’ve done a beautiful job formulating the sunscreen, and it feels a little bit like skincare, so it’s really comfortable when you’re putting it on.
The DRMTLGY Sunscreen has been my favorite for over a year, I have tried several different sunscreens that I have liked, but this one is at the top of my list.
This next product has been on my favorites list for a long, long time. It is the Missha BB Cream. Have you tried this?
It is so good and at a drugstore price! This particular formula is an SPF 42, and it’s a PA+++ which is the rating in countries other than the US. It stays on, and it just looks beautiful all day long. What I love about this foundation is that it covers up any imperfections on my face, evens up my skin tone, and puts a beautiful skin-like finish on my skin. I use this a lot when I’m not having a big makeup day. This Missha BB Cream is a wonderful addition to any makeup collection.
This next foundation is new to me; it’s the No 7 Lift & Luminate Foundation. I just tried this for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and oh my gosh – I was so stunned at how beautiful this foundation is. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t tried it or even thought about trying it since I’m such a fan of the No 7 Lift & Luminate Powder.
I like this foundation for lighter makeup days in the warmer spring and summer months. It is a lovely lightweight formula, but it still covers well and evens up my skin tone in the most beautiful way. The real showstopper with this foundation is how pretty it looks on the skin; it really does just look skin-like!
I seem to be on the blue eyeshadow bandwagon lately, and I can’t seem to get off of it, so I picked up Colourpop On Cloud Blue Palette. Isn’t that just so fun? If this doesn’t remind you of high school, I don’t know what does!
If you’re interested in blue eyeshadow, this has it all going on right here. These formulas are so pigmented. No one is going to be confused that you’re wearing blue eyeshadow.
The next palette for spring is the Colourpop Mandalorian Palette. The greens are more of a muted subtle green, and Colourpop did an excellent job making sure you had a very deep color to accent the outer corner of the eye and very light colors to put in the inner corners and underneath the brow.
I think this palette could put together a lovely springtime look!
The third palette that I want to share today is the Colourpop Blush Crush Palette. I’ve had this palette for a little over a year now, and I absolutely love it.
This palette has just the softest, most beautiful pink tones. Again, Colourpop did a great job putting this nine-pan palette together, giving us some great rich deep tones and some lighter ones for underneath the brow and the lid. The formulas are excellent, and they blend like a dream.
If you’re looking for some pink shades, you can’t go wrong with the Colourpop Blush Crush Palette.
I have two lipsticks that I wanted to share today. They’re both from Maybelline, one of my absolute favorite lipstick lines. The first one I’ve had for probably a year and a half, and I absolutely love it.
It’s called Romantic Rose. It’s the most beautiful kind of pink, mauvey rose-tone. It is so soft and subtle and so very beautiful on the lips. The Maybelline formula is so great, it feels very hydrating on the lips, and these formulas really do last a long time.
The next is a color called Born With It, but I haven’t used it as much as the Romantic Rose. I’m really starting to fall in love with it lately because it’s just a beautiful spring pink color. It’s a cooler tone pink, and it’s just a luscious hydrating creamy Maybelline lipstick formula.
These two lipsticks are so affordable and just perfect for spring!
