Face Shaving Over 50 – 9 Month Results

Today it’s all about face shaving for us over 50 gals with mature skin.

I have been shaving my face for about nine months now, and today I’m going to be sharing my experience, my tips and tricks, and a full demonstration of exactly how I shave my very mature over 50 skin.

Let’s jump into my tips, tricks, and a full demonstration on face shaving for over 50 gals.

How to Shave Your Face

I start the process by washing and drying my face. Generally, I like to shave my face without any skincare products on it, so I’ll do it in the morning when I’m going to do my whole face to be able to do it on dry skin.

Shaving my face isn’t always an intentional thing. Mostly it’s just a little incremental upkeep thing that I’ll do throughout the month.

I often start-up by my cheekbone and work my way down. A lot of times when I shave my face, quite a bit of dead skin comes off. It’s a good way to dermaplane your face in addition to shaving. So I really appreciate that because my skin is so much softer and smoother when I’m done.

I work around all the different areas of my face, and there are a few places on my face where I need to pull taut to get closer to the skin on my face. Again, try to work towards the grain or with the grain instead of away from it. I feel like it’s less irritating for your skin that way.

When I’m done shaving my face, I finish with my regular skincare routine. I don’t find that my skin is any more sensitive, and I think that the moisturizers from my skincare routine help plump up my skin and make it look fresher.

Is Face Shaving Safe?

I have not personally gotten any ingrown hairs or pimples from shaving, but I know that can happen. So if you’re concerned at all about your skin and what might happen, choose a tiny part of your face and test it there before trying it on your whole face.

One important tip is when I first started shaving my face, I was putting it perpendicular to my face, which doesn’t work well. I’ve learned that angling it so it moves at an angle along my face picks up the dead skin and hair best.

The hair has not grown back any further than it was before. The peach fuzz areas are still peach fuzz, and the more prickly whisker-like hairs are still the same.

My whole face shaving routine is very quick, easy, and effective. I love the fact that the razors are super affordable, and it’s something I can easily do at home in just a couple of minutes.

What is the Best Way to Shave Your Face?

I first tried to shave my face with a razor like I shave my legs with, which didn’t work for me at all. Being able to get into the smaller areas was really tough with that type of razor.

The Schick Silk Razor or Tinkle Razor are designed so that they can really glide along the surface of the skin and not only take off all that peach fuzz but it also takes off the dead skin cells.

Schick Silk Razor

The Schick Silk Razor is my current favorite. Mine came is a 3-pack, and they’re very affordable and accessible. I like how this razor fits in my hand, and the serrated edge helps protect my skin from nicks and cuts.

I’ve been using the Schick Silk Razor since I started shaving my face nine months ago. I haven’t really tried any other brand because I’m very pleased with them. When I bought them, I bought three packages and haven’t had to buy anymore, so I feel the quality and price are well worth it.

Tinkle Hair Razor

The Tinkle Razor is also a popular choice, and I heard from many gals who use and love this product.

They look to be very similar to the brand I use and are just as affordable. No matter which razor you choose, you really can’t go wrong!
